ForEASY: Bobby Forese Throws No-Hitter

Can you say No-No? Bobby Forese ’14 threw a 5-inning no-hitter during a 10-0 Storm victory over the Masters School. The win was the second for St. Luke’s Varsity Baseball in this young season, as they beat Christian Heritage prior to Forese’s dominant start. The victory improved the Storm’s record to 2-3, with important FAA games coming up against Brunswick and Rye Country Day.

Besides the success on the mound, Forese was also dominant at the plate. Going 2-4 with a bloop single and a triple, Forese energized the offense that struggled earlier in the season. Charlie Nelson ‘13 led the team with three runs, added a single, and played brilliantly in the field. Eliot Henson ’13 was his usual self, stealing three bases, scoring two runs, and hitting a double.

It has been rumored that after the no-hitter, Forese didn’t even know he pulled it off. “Yeah that’s kind of true. I was so focused in the game I didn’t really realize what I had just accomplished but it was great to help my team win.”

Safe!

Safe!

In the game prior to Forese’s no-hitter, the Storm showed their prowess beating Christian Heritage 7-1. The highlight of the game was Robert Morris’ homerun, which cleared the fence by a mile and went into the trees. First baseman and pitcher Morgan Simmonds ‘14 also stole the show by hitting a three run inside the park homerun. Forese capped off the game with another prominent start, as he threw five innings and struck out six batters.

When asked about the last two games Morgan Simmonds ’14 stated “I feel both games went extremely well because our defense only had one error in two games, our bats have really come alive, and we have had stellar performances on the mound. “

The Storm’s next test will be away at Hamden Hall on Thursday, April 18th. St. Luke’s looks to continue the win streak to three straight, as they hope to eventually be at the top of the FAA rankings.
