A Spring Celebration!

This Friday, April 27th, kicks off the annual St. Luke’s Spring Weekend. Friday’s festivities will begin at 3pm with the always inspiring Composer’s Concert. The Composer’s Concert features original pieces by several of SLS’s incredibly talented students. Several of the performers- Alex Robertson, Craig Ballard, Charlie Schlinkert and Eli Parker-Burgard- are members of St. Luke’s Jazz Band, who placed second in a recent competition in Virginia. The Concert will also feature St. Luke’s Coffee House favorites like Kamau Burton, Ben Klein, and other talents.

Following the Composer’s Concert will be the Senior Solo Shows at 4pm. These shows display beautiful collections of art from our talented senior artists such as Samantha Levy, Paige Hart, Andrew Kager, Blake Overlander, and Gabi Horowitz. The art will range in medium from photography to drawing and painting to ceramics. As if one could possibly need more of a reason to attend the Solo Shows, there will be excellent refreshments, organized by senior artist Andrew Kager’s mother, whose lemon bars are “literally the best thing ever!” according to photography teacher Ms. Yankura.

To end the evening, students will read their own original works of poetry at 5pm. Readers include Alex Robertson, Emily Bergmann, Christian Langalis, and the entire Senior Creative Writing Class. Melanie Bow and Mr. Mark “The Mad Dog” Bisson will be performing as well, and with the Mad Dog it’s always a good show.

So don’t miss any of these awesome events to usher in spring and come out Saturday too for any of the five varsity games!
