Storm Sweep Homecoming

St. Luke’s Alumni were in for a treat this past Saturday, as they returned for one of the most successful homecomings in recent years. Not only did all of the Storm teams win, each did so in a dominating performance.

Boys Soccer was able to get its first win of the season with a commanding 4-1 victory against Chase Collegiate. Freshman Chris Arita tallied two goals in the contest, along with both Peter Moran and Eliot Henson netting a goal each. The Boys are now 1-7, and look to improve from their first victory .

Sixth Man cheers on the Girl's Volleyball team

The Varsity Volleyball game lived up to its immense hype, as the girls capped off an exciting game by scoring the 25th point in the 4th set to beat Masters 25-20. Sixth Man, the student sports support club, delivered on its promise of filling the student section, led by a chest-painted Dan Kagan. This hotly contested match was met with the most enthusiasm of any homecoming event!

Girls Soccer prevailed over Christian Heritage in a non-league matchup. The final score was 7-0, with the girls setting the tempo right from the start. When all was said and done, the girls were able to win, thanks to five different players scoring. The GVS team is now one of the top teams in the FAA and hopes to continue their success as the season progresses.

The St. Luke’s Girls Field Hockey team also took home its first win of the season. The girls came out with the intensity needed to defeat Cheshire Academy, winning by a score of 3 to 0. The scoring was led off by Lauren Fenningdorf, with additional support from senior Gabi Horowitz, who scored the final two goals. The team played a great game all around, and got a much deserved win in return.

The final game of the day was Varsity Football, with a stellar performance against Long Island Lutheran.  After an early mistake, St. Luke’s regained their composure and never again let off of the gas. The team left the field with a stunning 48-13 victory, and hundreds of happy fans. With a solid win behind them, the Storm heads into their next game, an out of state matchup against the Pennington School from NJ, this Saturday at St. Luke’s.

Considering the immense success of our athletic teams on Saturday, any St. Luke’s student, past or present, is surely proud to be part of the Storm athletic community.
