Girls Varsity Soccer FAA Success

The St. Luke’s Girls Varsity Soccer team has been making the school proud with their impressive 13-2 record, qualifying for the Fairchester Athletic Association tournament. The FAA’s started on November 11th with the semi-finals with Greens Farms Academy, which St. Luke’s won 2-0. The Fairchester Athletic Association tournament is an honor to qualify for. St.Luke’s is immensely proud of how far this talented team has come, and can’t wait to go out and support them during the oncoming games! IMG_3089
Seena Panagiotidis (‘17) said that “this year it is especially special to me because i’m very close to the seniors. This year we WILL win the FAA!” This year, the senior co-captains are Kit Hamill, Sophia Lemmer, and Sally Clayton. Sally is confident in the team’s ability, saying, “we have bonded very well as a team, and I think that’s a lot of why we did really well this year” The team also differs in ages, Sally went on to say, “our team is really different this year, from past seasons, because we have a lot of really young and talented players.” Playing as a team for St. Luke’s unites students and brings together all ages. Another senior and co-captain, Kit Hamill (‘16) says that, “we are fabulous, best soccer team in St.Luke’s history!”
The coaches of this year’s Girls Varsity soccer team are Mr. Hirx and Dan, and they seem to agree with Kit’s claim. While the team was practicing for their game on Wednesday, Dan said, “‘We had a bit of a rocky start, losing two of our first three games, but we regrouped after that, and we’ve been on a fantastic winning streak ever since.” The tournament final is on Friday against Rye Country Day, who they beat earlier this year 2-1, and the team is confident in their abilities. “We expect all of you to come out and support the team!” says Natalie Bachman (‘17). We’ll be there, Good luck Girls Varsity Soccer!
