Random Kid Of the Month: Michael Crispi

The Sentinel sat down with eight grader Michael Crispi to learn more about him and his experience at SLS. Here’s what we found:

Q: How long have you been at SLS?
A: I have been here since fifth grade.

Q: What do you like about it?
A: I like the academics, the diversity, and the theater program.

Q: Tell us about your time on Broadway.
A: I auditioned for a part in “A Christmas Story Musical” in Madison Square Garden in May of 2012 and found out I got the part in September of 2013. I was out of school for 4 months, it was an amazing experience, definitely scary at first but worth it for sure.

Q: How do you think it affected you in the long run?
A: I think it made me more mature for sure. Me being able to get a taste of the outside world and have a job and interact with adults was definitely beneficial and I really enjoyed it.

Q: What is one of your secret passions?
A: Most people don’t know but I really love to surf!

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
A: Rocky Road.

Q: Do you prefer to write with a pen or a pencil?
A: Pen. I think pen is smoother while pencil is scratchier.

Q: Would you say you have a smooth or a scratchy personality?
A: Smoooooth.

Q: What do you look for in a friend?
A: I like people I can trust and friends that care about you but aren’t overprotective. And I like people that are open to trying new things.

Q: What would you say is different between you and your brother?
A: Oh yeah, we are super different. He loves hockey and I love drama, he is better at math and science and I am better at English and History.

Q: Would you describe him as more of a scratchy person?
A: Actually yeah, definitely!
