Throwback Thursday: A Tradition of Journalism

THURSDAY, MARCH 27 — St. Luke’s has had a journalistic tradition since the very early days: our first student news organization (and the first St. Luke’s non-athletic activity), the St. Luke’s News, was founded in 1930. Unfortunately, no photographs of the News staff survives, and there are no records of the paper between 1931 and 1940, when it was re-founded as the Sentinel (the new name was Mr. Von Fabrice’s contribution). This photograph is of St. Luke’s second-oldest student organization, the yearbook (then known as the Caduceus), and was taken in 1931, when the club was founded.
