Hilltop Photo-Op: The Class of 1945

Class of 1945
MONDAY, OCTOBER 15 — At today’s Town Meeting, President Ben Decatur shared a School-related “fun fact” in honor of Homecoming by telling the story of how Dr. Kidd once had a student pantsed, and ran his trousers up the flagpole (for the full story, visit the Sentinel‘s most recent Throwback Thursday: “The Day Joe Kidd Ran My Pants Up The Flagpole.”

One fact which was suggested, and rejected, for today’s Town Meeting is this: not only did the Class of 1945 consist of only eight students (which was actually par for the course for SLS in the forties – three years earlier, there were only four seniors), by 25% of them went to Ivy League institutions. Half of the students who didn’t ended up going in to the Navy (this was, after all, just after the Second World War).
