Heart, Humor and Haute Couture: St. Luke’s Life and Style

Last thursday afternoon, the slightly mundane student commons was transformed into a runway bustling with enthusiasm and anticipation that rivaled New York’s Fashion Week for the upcoming event St Luke’s Life and Style. In the center of this eager hubbub was junior Christie Kuehner, organizer of Life and Style, armed with her microphone and schedule, devotedly refining each detail of this endeavor.

It has been almost a year now since this labor of love and outreach began, and finally, this Saturday from 5:30-7:00, the hard work of Christie and more than forty students was rewarded at last.  Saturday night’s event is highlighted by the fashion show but also featured raffles and refreshments, the proceeds of which will go to benefit St. Luke’s LifeWorks, an organization committed to housing and aiding the homeless.

Christie as a fashion enthusiast believes Life and Style, a first for SLS, will be a great change of pace as far as school events and fundraisers go and that it is the perfect chance for all students, grades 5-12 to be involved as participants and observers.

It was great to see classmates channel their inner Zoolander and wow the audience with a riveting display of “blue steel” outfitted entirely in Vineyard Vines.
