Meet St. Luke’s Life and Style

St. Luke’s Life and Style is an new club founded this year by SLS junior Christie Kuehner. The club consists of 40 other students and a teacher advisor, Ms. Parker-Burgard. Inspired by her visit to St. Luke’s Lifeworks last spring on Upper School Service Day, Kuehner started the club in order to aid the organization, located in Stamford. For those who don’t know, St. Luke’s Lifeworks is a shelter where families can stay while getting their life back on track. This shelter offers an array of services, such as volunteer-based tutoring, job and housing placement services, and anything else needed for a fresh start.

On February 25, there will be a fashion show at SLS from 5:30 to 7pm, to raise money for St. Luke’s Lifeworks. The club will not decide which part of the organization the money will go to as they believe it is important for the organization to be free to spend the money as it sees fit.

At the fashion show there will be about 30-40 models of all ages. The club hopes to get participants from all grades, as well as teachers. Student models will be eligible to earn five community service hours.

Local stores will donate all of the clothes for the show, which will spotlight their new spring trends.  During the event, Christie Kuehner and Peter Baritz will be the MC’s. There will also be a speaker from Lifeworks and a raffle. Prior to the event, those who are interested in attending will have to fill out a RSVP, which will entitle them to a welcome bag at the show. Without a RSVP, entrance to the show will be $10 at the door.
