Homecoming 2011 Preview

That time of the year is upon us once again, when alumni return to the hilltop, and the Storm Varsity Sports Teams host home games. What else could I be talking about aside from Homecoming? Homecoming is that special time of year where the entire St. Luke’s community comes together to cheer on the Storm as one collective unit.

The athletics for the day will be kicked off by a Fun Run organized by the Cross Country team on the Upper Field at 10:00 am. After the Fun Run, the Boys Varsity Soccer Team will host Chase Collegiate, with kickoff taking place at 11:30 on the Lower Field.  This should be an interesting and competitive game as the Storm fell to Chase last year by a score of 2-3. The next game, which in my opinion could very well be the most competitive game played the entire day, is the Varsity Volleyball matchup against the Masters School in the AC at 1:00. The Girls are once again promoting their annual Dig Pink event for Breast Cancer Awareness, so it should be a great occasion.

Girls Varsity Soccer is the next team scheduled to play, with a 1:30 opening kickoff on the lower field against Christian Heritage. The Girls are looking to improve their current record and come away with a win. Taking place at 2:00 on the Upper Field is the Girls Varsity Field Hockey team, who are facing Cheshire Academy in an out of league matchup. Be sure to come out and cheer on the girls!

The final game for the day is the Varsity Football Game, with our Storm hosting a tough Long Island Lutheran Squad. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 on Watson Field at Pedrick Stadium. The team is coming off of a tough loss from this previous weekend, and will be playing with a lot of fire. This is a very important game for the Storm as they lost to Lutheran last year, and are planning on sending a message with a strong performance!

Homecoming this year should be a great time, so be sure to get to St. Luke’s bright and early on Saturday and cheer on all of the Storm teams!
